All dried legumes are not created equal! Certain beans and legumes require longer soaking time to become soft. Dried split peas soften in about 30 minutes and completely cook in just a few minutes more. Fast cooking makes split peas a great addition to your quick and easy weekday menu.

Cumin adds a distinctive flavor to this soup and is one of my most favorite dried spices. For another great cumin-inspired recipe check out Moroccan Spiced Rotisserie Chicken.

Patty E. says, "Yummy! I love split pea soup. This one has a unique twist with the addition of fresh rosemary and cumin."
