![]() The size of your artichoke will determine the cooking time. A large artichoke in steamed in a microwave oven will take 15 minutes. Check it after 8 to 10 minutes. A large artichoke steamed over medium high heat will take longer - as much as 20 to 30 minutes depending on freshness. Just remember to use the fork test to determine when your artichoke is done.
